Hey Y'all!
We were supposed to have storms this week and they just sort of disipated right before they hit. We've gotten a lot of rain this spring - more than normal but this looks more normal for us and from here to the end of August rain will likely be a little spotty.
The question is how long it will take everything to go brown.
Are you making plans for the 4th yet? It's sneaking up on us - plus around here the first couple of weeks of July are busy. My youngest daugher's birthday on the first, my youngest son's birthday on the 3rd, then we have the 4th, my brother's birthday on the 5th, and my 2nd son's birthday on the 11. It's less chaotic now that I'm not responsible for cakes and parties but still feels busy.

This old-fashioned Millionaire Pie has everything going for it: no oven, five minutes of effort, and enough pineapple, cherries, coconut, and pecans to make people suddenly interested in dessert. Creamy, fluffy, and straight out of the church cookbook hall of fame, it's the kind of recipe that never comes home with leftovers.
quick and easy recipes for the second half of the week
It's the second half of the week. The groceries are looking questionable, your patience is hanging by a thread, and people still expect dinner. These quick and easy recipes are here to save the day with simple ingredients, minimal fuss, and maximum "everybody eat and leave me alone" energy.
Skillet Enchiladas Suizas
All the creamy, cheesy comfort of enchiladas without the rolling, stuffing, and general kitchen gymnastics. Everything cooks in one skillet, which means less cleanup and more time to sit down before somebody asks what's for dessert.
Tuscan Chicken
Tender chicken simmered in a rich, creamy sauce with sun-dried tomatoes and spinach. It tastes like you spent the afternoon cooking but secretly comes together fast enough for a busy weeknight.
Sausage Alfredo Skillet
Smoky sausage, pasta, and a creamy Alfredo sauce join forces in one skillet to solve the eternal question of what's for dinner. Rich, satisfying, and guaranteed to keep the snack scavengers out of the kitchen for at least an hour.
Crescent Roll Taco Bake
Everything you love about taco night tucked under a buttery crescent roll crust. It's easy, cheesy, family-friendly, and somehow disappears faster than common sense at a clearance sale.
Tuna Casserole
This old-fashioned comfort food proves that some classics stick around for a reason. Creamy, cozy, budget-friendly, and perfect for those nights when cooking enthusiasm has packed a bag and left town.
summer side dishes
When it's hotter than a cast iron skillet left on the fire, nobody wants complicated recipes. These easy summer side dishes are cool, fresh, crowd-pleasing, and ready for everything from backyard cookouts to those last-minute "I invited six people over-what was I thinking?" situations.
Southern Cornbread Salad
Layers of cornbread, fresh vegetables, cheese, and creamy dressing turn simple ingredients into the side dish everyone talks about on the drive home. It's colorful, make-ahead friendly, and impossible to ignore at a potluck.
Carrot Salad with Pineapple
Sweet, crunchy, and just a little retro in the best possible way. This old-fashioned favorite combines carrots and pineapple in a bright, refreshing side dish that tastes like summer at Grandma's house.
Potato Salad
Every cookout needs a good potato salad, and this one goes the extra mile. Creamy, flavorful, and sturdy enough to hold its own next to burgers, brisket, and Uncle Larry's political opinions.
Orange Creamsicle Salad
Part side dish, part dessert, and 100% likely to disappear first. With its creamy orange flavor and fluffy texture, it's like your favorite ice cream truck treat showed up wearing church clothes.
Cherry Junkyard Salad
This gloriously chaotic vintage recipe proves that sometimes more is more. Packed with cherries and plenty of sweet, creamy goodness, it's the kind of potluck salad that makes people ask, "Who brought this?" while scraping the sides of the dish.
creamy and delicious
